Zion Zvi Takes The Mezz Tour at Raxx Pool Room

The Mezz Pro-Am Tour made its way to Raxx Pool Room, Bar & Grill in West Hempstead, NY on July 10, 2011. A strong field of 34 came out to play, which included Matt Krah, Joey Testa, Zion Zvi, Frankie Hernandez, Daniel Dagotdot, Noel Bensurto, Oscar Bonilla, Michael Wong, and visiting Filipino pro Ramon Mistica.
Leading the top half of the bracket, Dan Dagotdot took wins over Larry Ross 7-1, Barry Banks 7-6, Frankie Hernandez 7-4, and Ramon Mistica 7-6. Meanwhile, Zion Zvi lead the bottom half of the bracket with wins over Samantha Miskevich 7-0, Tony Tjioe 7-3, Bob Madara 7-3, and Oscar Bonilla 7-3.
Playing for the hot seat, Daniel Dagotdot and Zion Zvi faced off to see who would guarantee a spot in the final. This was a one-sided match with Zion taking control of the match from the start and winning easily 7-2, sending Daniel Dagotdot to the one-loss side.
Waiting for Daniel Dagotdot on the one-loss side was Frankie Hernandez… and this too was a one-sided match, this time it was Frankie Hernandez who closed out with a dominant win at the same score, 7-2.
In the final match, Frankie Hernandez took on undefeated Zion Zvi, where Hernandez would have to beat Zvi twice in order to win the event. In the first set it was Frankie Hernandez winning 7-4, and the second set was a great match that went hill-hill when it was all set and done it was Zion Zvi winning 7-6.
Congratulations to both Zion Zvi and Frankie Hernandez on their strong performances in this event, along with Daniel Dagotdot for his breakthrough showing to come in 3rd.
